Session Submission Type: Complete Thematic Panel
In an effort to challenge dominant risk logics, this panel will explore the nature and consequences of risk-based social control in multiple institutions. The panel will illustrate how risk technologies extend control in ways that usually leave untouched the longstanding socio-structural inequalities at the root of crime and criminalization. The panel’s contributions will try to offer some alternatives to dominant risk logics and their application.
