Abstract

This panel presents new and ongoing research about the "queering" of policing in Australian and US police agencies. Panelists will discuss the need to include historical considerations of LGBTIQ police-community relations, attempts to improve those relations by re-investigating previously ignored LGBTIQ hate crimes, the in/visibility of LGBTIQ liaison officers, and the role conflict experienced by LGBTQ officers in their personal and professional lives.
