Pornography, Sexting, and Jealousy: Associations with Teen Dating Violence

Wed, Nov 16, 3:30 to 4:50pm, Hilton, Grand Salon 13, 1st Level

Session Submission Type: Complete Thematic Panel

Abstract

There are emerging associations among pornography, sexting, and jealousy and teen dating violence that are important to discuss. The first panelist will discuss results from qualitative and quantitative data that reveal how pornography usage can lead to coerced sexual experiences for youth in dating relationships. The second panelist will follow with data showing the links between sexting and teen dating violence from a large ethnically diverse longitudinal study. The final panelist will present data showing how daily reports of jealousy are associated with both victimization and perpetration of teen dating violence. The panel will end with a discussant that will share thoughts on implications for teen dating violence prevention efforts.
