How Systems Work Together (or Don’t) to Serve Child and Youth Victims

Abstract

In 2015, the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) initiated the Vision 21: Linking Systems of Care for Children and Youth State Demonstration. This demonstration seeks to improve responses to child victimization by developing a consistent and coordinated approach to effectively identify, assess, and provide comprehensive services to youth victims and their families. Two states, Montana and Virginia, are supported by OVC to implement statewide systems of care for child victims. ICF International is performing an evaluation to understand how systems of care can benefit child victims and their families. This panel highlights research findings from each state’s needs assessment activities, as well as ICF’s evaluation. A discussant from the Office for Victims of Crime will discuss how this research broadens our understanding of the complex needs of victimized children and youth.
