Abstract

This session looks to elaborate on the impact of various factors that may influence the severity of sexual assaults within the Native American population. Trained student researchers working with the Center for Applied Criminal Case Analysis analyzed federal sexual assault cases from a Native American sample. Factors discussed in this session will include whether or not the offender was using alcohol during the commission of a sexual assault, the offender's drug use history, use of force during the commission of a sexual assault, and whether the offender appeared to be situational or preferential.
