Session Submission Type: Roundtable Session
Integrating, disseminating, and diffusing research findings at a national level presents a unique and complex challenge for federal social science staff. This challenge is amplified considering the potential pitfalls involved in facilitating the appropriate adoption or adaptation of nuanced research findings; a diverse, and often evolving, target constituency; an emerging understanding of the science of implementation; and a balance between rigorous research and practical utility. This work is taking place all within the context of complicated and complex federal and local regulations. This roundtable of representatives from across the Department of Justice, Office of Justice Program’s bureaus will discuss recent initiatives to advance a translational criminology agenda across national criminal and juvenile justice policies, practices, and programs as well as their perceptions of the progress and regress contained within.
