Roundtable: Strategies for Underrepresented Women Faculty

Abstract

In this workshop we will discuss the political and institutional obstacles faced by underrepresented women as they navigate careers in the academy. We will present some larger demographic information on the state of the academy as it relates to diversity amongst faculty. Though we all exist at the intersections of race, class, gender and sexuality, for everyone has race, gender and sexuality, underrepresented women will discuss their experiences of existing, working, surviving, fighting to thrive at the intersections of oppressed categories of race, gender, and/or sexuality.
