Roundtable: Nigeria's New Apocalypse--The Fulani Herdsmen

Abstract

The nomadic Fulani herdsmen in Nigeria are increasingly unleashing a "Reign of Terror" on their host communities sometimes with the backing of Muslim military elites. They are thereby beginning to resemble an expansionist wing of dreaded "Boko Haram" terrorist organization affiliated with ISIS. In the face of nonintervention by the government, how does the new President (himself of Fulani stock) divest himself of complicity in their terrorist acts, and at the same time convince the country that he is not executing the Muslim expansionist and conquest agenda in Christian dominated communities?
