Fri, Nov 18, 9:30 to 10:50am, Hilton, Newberry, 3rd Level

Session Submission Type: Roundtable Session

Abstract

This roundtable provides an opportunity for those teaching criminal justice courses to share classroom activities that have been successful in helping students connect with concepts in an engaging and creative way. Several activities will be demonstrated at the roundtable and activity materials (instructions, handouts, etc.) will be made available to anyone who would like them. Interactive individual and group activities, creative writing exercises, and engaging online assignments will be included at this “swap meet”. Attendees are welcome to bring an activity to share with others, or simply come and learn what other scholars are using in their classrooms. This session will ideally inspire attendees to introduce new activities into their classes to improve the learning experience of students by encouraging them to engage more fully with complex criminal justice topics and consider issues from new and varied perspectives.
