Roundtable: The Many Colors of Criminal Justice Reform

Thu, Nov 17, 5:00 to 6:20pm, Hilton, Pelican, Riverside Complex

Session Submission Type: Roundtable Session

Abstract

This roundtable examines a variety of ethno-racial communities, principally African Americans, Mexican Americans/Latinos, and Native Americans, and their efforts to address policing problems and criminal justice reforms. It pays specific attention to the role of law enforcement in the public school, within Native American tribal governments, and in the urban environment. The panelists explore law enforcement issues from police violence to zero tolerance education policies, while simultaneously examining community-based solutions to these law enforcement problems.
