Session Submission Type: Roundtable Session

Abstract

International Police Executive Symposium, IPES, www.ipes.info, works mainly in the area of policing, but this organization, an NGO of the United Nations, is committed to the mission of strengthening collaboration between research and practice; encouraging cross-cultural dialogues and dissemination of best practices in the field of criminal justice including that of Corrections. IPES carries out its mission by a series of books based on interviews with global leaders in policing, courts and prisons. Entitled, Trends in Corrections: Interviews with Corrections Leaders Around the World, IPES is now working on the third volume with Routledge/Taylor and Francis, based on interviews conducted by scholars or practitioners with intimate knowledge of correctional practice and who are familiar with the correctional system in the country of the interviewee. The Roundtable is intended to generate discussion on interviews as a methodology of cross-cultural, multinational and global research in the field of corrections. Are these corrections volumes strengthening collaboration between research and practice, generating cross-cultural exchanges and disseminating best practices?
