Session Submission Type: Complete Thematic Panel
This panel will examine the field of Victimology in the United States and the world as an academic endeavor. The panel will look at the almost 100 year history of Victimology beginning with the work of Edwin Sutherland in the 1920's and its evolution to the present day. The depth and breadth of the field of Victimology, from education and empowerment of individuals to the issues of victims’ rights and services will be presented. The presentations will enhance the knowledge and understanding of the field of Victimology along with presenting the future challenges and opportunities that will be faced by academics and those who enter the Victimology field.
