A recent study shows that mixed-sex negative peer support is a powerful correlate of sexual assaults on female college students. However, it is unclear whether white female victims are more or less likely than female victims who are members of other racial/ethnic groups to have peers who are abusive and who provide guidance and advice that influences friends to sexually, physically, and psychologically abuse their dating partners. Using data from the Campus Quality of Life Survey conducted at a large residential school in the South Atlantic Part of the U.S., the main objective of this paper is to examine racial/ethnic variations in campus sexual assault and negative mixed-sex peer support for this harm.
