Wed, Nov 15, 3:30 to 4:50pm, Marriott, Room 402, 4th Floor

Abstract

Very little is known about the experiences of female child sex offenders. Even less is known about how female child sex offenders experience incarceration, how they are viewed by other inmates, and their participation in inmate culture. This paper reports findings from a larger qualitative study which sought to uncover the motivations of convicted female child sex offenders. The specific focus of this paper reports findings pertaining to the strategies that convicted female child sex offenders develop to cope with imprisonment and the concerns that they have regarding the transition from prison to the community.
