This presentation offers findings from research that identified emergent patterns and themes among active and mass shooter literature. Using inductive, grounded theory, three specific motivational characteristics were selected for Qualitative Comparative Analysis to examine the ways in which the factors (and combinations of factors) affected event characteristics and outcomes. The presentation will outline the rates of change over time and patterns between the various combinations of shooters.
