The Relationship Between Each Facet/Factor of the PCL-R and Sexual Crime in a Korean Offender Sample

Abstract

The previous research findings about the Korean version of Psychopathy Checklist-Revised (PCL-R) assessed psychopathy of a Korean serious offender sample reported that facet/factor 3 (unstable lifestyle) better predicted in-prison violence (measured through risk assessed by correctional officers) and out-of-prison violence (measured through recidivism assessed by conviction information) than other facets/factors. Additionally, preliminary studies have reported that facet/factor 2 (empathy deficiency) better predicted violent recidivism than nonviolent recidivism. Yet, the relationship between each facet/factor and one of the violent crimes, particularly, sexual crime has not yet been introduced. The main purpose of the current preliminary study is to investigate how each underlying feature of the Korean version of PCL-R relates to sexual crime as compared to other types of crime. Further implications and directions will be discussed.
