The CrimeSolutions.gov program scoring instrument is used by expert study reviewers to assess the quality and strength of evidence, and extent to which the identified evidence of a particular program indicates whether the desired goals were achieved. The instrument determines whether a program receives a rating of Effective, Promising, or No Effects, or if there is Insufficient Evidence to determine a program’s effectiveness rating. Presenters will discuss how the evolving state of evaluation research and methodology has influenced the decision to systematically review and update the instrument, and how updates to the scoring instrument reflect changes in the field. Presenters will discuss the process and rationale of updating and modifying certain aspects of the scoring instrument to promote consistency and improve the rigor of the review process.
