Lifetime Risk of Identity Theft

Abstract

This study uses data from the Identity Theft Supplement (ITS) to the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) to present information on the lifetime risk of identity theft. It will also examine the lifetime risk of experiencing various types of identity theft such as existing credit card fraud and new account fraud. It will attempt to examine the lifetime risk of identity theft by various demographic characteristics, such as annual household income, gender, and race.
