Age, Physical Attractiveness, and the Risk of Sexual Assault Victimization

Abstract

Age has been found to be negatively related to the risk of sexual assault victimization. Some researchers have explained this association in terms of the physical attractiveness of the victim. Using data from a nationally representative sample of adolescents, this interpretation is tested empirically. Results and the implications for theory are discussed.
