The 20th and 21st Centuries' Political-Criminal Nexus in State Organized Crime

Abstract

Some individuals entered into political career with the sole purpose of trying to get opportunities to make money, illegally, without being caught. The social structure in which the individuals live plays a significant role in explaining the crimes of the state and state operatives. This paper defines state crime, and provides a wide range of theories of state crime, forms of state crime, patterns of ‘head of state’ initiated state organized crime, and types of political-criminal nexus in state organized crime. Additionally, this study presents an in depth analysis of a symbiotic relationship between traditional organized crime groups and their state governments in different parts of the world. International control mechanisms against state organized crime are delineated.
