Comparative Environmental Analysis of Two Bars in Oklahoma

Thu, Nov 16, 6:00 to 7:00pm, Marriott, Grand Ballroom Salon E, 5th Floor

Abstract

Two bars in the state of Oklahoma, specifically in Lawton and Oklahoma City, are compared through environmental crime analysis. This project has two hypotheses: 1. The bar with a larger number of environmental factors that attract crime will have a corresponding larger number of crimes versus the bar with fewer features that attract crime. 2. The bar with more environmental factors that deter crime will have fewer crimes than the bar with fewer environmental factors that deter crime. This research is meant to illustrate the importance of environmental factors that increase the likelihood of crimes occurring as well as environmental factors that deter crime in the two bars.
