Criminology Theories Adapted to Modern Terrorism

Fri, Nov 17, 2:00 to 3:20pm, Marriott, Room 302, 3rd Floor

Abstract

This paper is designed to understand such a fundamental phenomenon as modern terrorism and its adaptation into classical theories of crime. The terroristic events that happened in the world, particularly in my country, France, and in Europe during the past decade incited the spread of hate toward the Muslim population in their countries and over their borders. This newly created situation, relying exclusively on religion, warns against future terroristic acts and requires a precise understanding of “terroristic thinking,” “terroristic proposals” transmitted through modern technologies and of the reasons behind the dangerous behavior of the individuals who claim to act in the name of Islam, and Allah, while perpetuating their terroristic attacks.
We need to obtain a transcription of these acts from various criminological theories of behavior, which will consequently help us outline future steps toward a rational understanding of terroristic behavior and more importantly – how to fight it. This paper will not only examine existing theories addressing terrorism, but it will also provide my own ideas of theories such as the correlation between the Protocols of the Elders of Zion (Matvei Golovinski and Manasevich-Manuilov, 1903) and ISIL.
