The Impact of Racism on the Media and Crime Nexus

Abstract

This study draws attention to the crucial role institutions have come to play in shaping racism on aspects of social life. By examining both the ideological and institutional ontologies, can we appreciate relational power of the media in articulating, codifying, revising and applying racism? This paper investigate discursive practices that dehumanize African Americans; thereby rendering them easily susceptible to police violence.
