Replication and Testing of The Campus Sexual Assault Survey (2007)

Abstract

The Campus Sexual Assault Study, conducted in 2007, is one of the landmark studies on campus based sexual assault (CSA). This study’s findings are widely cited, and its measures are frequently utilized in other CSA studies. This project is a replication study, seeking to reproduce the original results by Krebs et al. (2007). Replication studies are important for verifying landmark results that become the justification for many policy changes, yet they are highly underutilized. Additionally, research conducted using this study has only investigated prevalence of CSA and risk factors that contribute to the likelihood of an individual experiencing CSA. Yet, the survey does ask questions about help-seeking behaviors of victims, as well as perpetration, but this data has not yet been used to find any statistically significant predictors of these behaviors. This project will not only replicate and attempt to verify the existing results, but will also further the empirical data on help-seeking behaviors of victims of CSA and factors contributing to perpetration.
