An Analysis of High Frequency Youth Runaways

Abstract

Youth runaways are a particularly at-risk group of adolescences, as the runaway experience often places the youth on a trajectory of offending, victimization, and a host of other negative life events. Research on youth runaways find that those who frequently run away from caregivers may be even more at-risk than youth who only run away once or twice. This study examined the relationship between several environmental and individual level characteristics and high frequency runaway group adherence. Policy implications and potential early intervention methods for practitioners are also discussed.
