Public Support for Police Militarization

• In Event: Policing and Race: Exploring Interracial Contact, Perceptions of the Use of Force and Technological Correctives

Abstract

The events of Ferguson, MO in the Fall of 2014 renewed policymaker and academic interest in the militarization of police. Little research has been conducted on how the public feels about police militarization. The current study examines correlates of support for militarization among a sample of American adults. Implication for theory and policy are discussed.
