This study tests the relationship between social stratification and homicide incidents in the city of Bogota. By using neighborhood-level data, this paper presents an approach to RTM by including a series of social indicators to the analysis, such as population, income distribution (GINI index) and stratum level within each of the 120 statistical subdivision areas. Consistent with the relative deprivation theory, this analysis will seek to demonstrate the positive effect of inequality on violent crime rates across different neighborhoods.
