Abstract

Safety and security specialists need to make place-based decisions. Tactical decisions allocate resources & mitigate threats. Strategic plans respond to reliable forecasts. Risk terrain modeling (RTM), a spatial diagnostic method developed at Rutgers University, supports efforts on both fronts. GIS & data about physical landscapes are key components of RTM. You’ll learn, using next-gen RTM resources, how ArcGIS can identify, prioritize, and communicate risky places for crime or other threats. This informs mitigation actions that can be taken in objective & defensible ways.
