Teacher Integration, Threat, and School Punishment

Abstract

The debate surrounding the merits of racial integration in schools has extended across numerous disciplines. Although research on school integration has traditionally focused on racial and ethnic diversity among student populations, there is empirical evidence that suggests racially and ethnically diverse teaching faculties are consequential for student outcomes particularly student achievement. Using data from a representative sample of Florida high schools and middle schools, the current study explores whether integration influences school punishment.
