Impact of Unsatisfactory University Life on Cyberbullying – Mediation Effect of Self Control

Abstract

College students spend lots of time in the university campus and experience both positive and negative interactions with peers, professor, and other university services. Unsatisfactory university life experience might play a role as a strain factor in Agnew’s general strain theory. Dissatisfaction on the university life might generate negative emotional status. Cyberbullying might be one of responses in releasing the strain. We also hypothesized that level of self-control plays a mediating factor in the above relationship.
In order to test the above study hypotheses, we collected data from one of the universities located in the metropolitan area nearby the capital city of South Korea, Seoul. Using structural equation modeling, we tested the study hypotheses.
