Impacts of a School-Based Delinquency Prevention Program

Thu, Nov 16, 2:00 to 3:20pm, Marriott, Franklin 5, 4th Floor

Abstract

In recent years, school-based delinquency prevention efforts have received increased attention and resources because of their potential for improving school safety. The impacts of these efforts, however, remain understudied. We present findings from an impact evaluation of the School Safety and Student Performance Research Project, a school-based intervention supported in part through a federal grant. As part of the intervention, school-based teams work with at-risk youth, and for some youth collaborate with law enforcement and probation officers, to improve youth outcomes. The intervention seeks to improve participant outcomes and schoolwide safety. We report findings from an evaluation of the intervention.
