The Impact of Social Contextual Factors in Determining the Risk for Multiple Delinquency: A Study Among Turkish Youth

Abstract

Understanding the risk factors for multiple offending among youth has been of great concern in the recent criminological studies. These studies identified several risk domains including individual and family characteristics. Yet, the impact of risk factors existing in the social environment of these youth are, at best, have been studies in a limited fashion. Using a data set regarding a group of multiple delinquent offenders, this study strives to test the impact of these variables when controlling for individual and family characteristics. Findings of inferential analyses are discussed for possible policy and research implications.
