Beyond Racial Profiling: Analyzing Traffic Stop Data in Connecticut

Sat, Nov 18, 8:00 to 9:20am, Marriott, Franklin 9, 4th Floor

Abstract

Much research focusing on law enforcement traffic stops and searches has targeted potential racial disparities using various methodological approaches. Connecticut law enforcement agencies are required to collect detailed standardized data on all stops and searches that are conducted in the state. This presents an opportunity to pose several research questions. The current research will explore individual and/or agency-level contributors to variation in traffic stops beyond racial factors that have been the focus of most previous research.
