Social Cost Benefit Analysis of the Applications of Drones in Search for Missing Persons

Abstract

Drone was used for military, but it has been used in various fields. The Korean government selected Eight Prominent Business with Drone and has expanded its areas. In addition, the government encourages utilizing drone in public fields. For example, drone is applied to check electronic power facilities and deliver a parcel in mountain areas in Korea.
Korean police has used drone to search missing persons, but none of research analyzed cost and benefits of drone in search for missing persons. The costs of drone are of two types: direct and indirect. The benefits from drone are classified as tangible and intangible. The researcher participates in searching missing persons with the support of police. Several cases will be examined to calculate social cost and benefit. The results will be discussed.
