To date, location-based fear of crime has been well-documented, but a large proportion of such publications concern neighborhood effects. Drawing on Ferraro’s (1995) risk-assessment framework, the present study explores how the overall pattern of significant structural paths toward fear at home is different from fear in the neighborhood. Structural equation model analyses are based on a South Korean citizen sample. The results indicate that there are both similarities and differences in respective structural linkages among multiple correlates. Research implications are discussed in the South Korean context.
