Match-fixing and Organised Crime

Abstract

Today, the fight against match-fixing in sports is at the top of the agenda of sport associations and international institutions. Often, it is claimed that organized crime actively manipulates sport competition in order to maximize its profit. The paper makes a review of recent investigations on match-fixing in order to understand the modus operandi and the role of organized criminal groups in this criminal sector.
