Community based research can serve a myriad of purposes. In addition to informing the discipline, such work can be helpful in altering standard practices, policies, and design. Furthermore, in some cases, such detailed analysis can serve to debunk some prevailing myths that may surround a local group, organization, or institution. This present study examines the creation, justification, and operation of a county posse that was formed in 2016. Furthermore, this presentation will highlight some of the unique challenges that confronted the researcher while interacting with some of the key players during the data collection stages of the study. Suggestions will be offered regarding how to break best deal with such challenges while maintaining a strong rapport with those who are being studied.
