Data limitations for situational factors involved in police use of deadly force incidents in the United States have hampered the development of empirically based best practices for law enforcement agencies. Using Washington Post Police Shootings data for 2015 and 2016, this study examines the relatedness of officer-involved firearm fatalities and State Police Officer Standards and Training.
