The Future of Public Defense Research: Lessons from the Right to Counsel National Campaign

Abstract

The Right to Counsel (R2C) National Campaign will discuss where we have been, where we are, and the future of a multidisciplinary approach to achieving public defense reform and what this means for indigent defense researchers. In this session, we will examine the unique strategy the R2C National Campaign has taken to garner support for public defense reform, reaching out to non-defense system actors and conducting focus groups and opinion polls to inform our outreach, and how researchers can support this strategy through their work.
