This paper presents findings from a qualitative inquiry into reentry experiences in the Kentuckiana area of the United States. The Kentuckiana area includes Louisville, KY and several counties in Southern Indiana. This paper explores similarities and differences between experiences in this area and existing reentry research. Data is derived from 30 in-depth semi-structured interviews of formerly incarcerated individuals recruited through a respondent driven sampling strategy. Narrative analysis reveals the obstacles faced in the reentry process and the need for non-faith based reentry program. The lack of services in this area is problematic because reentry programs are imperative to successful reintegration and a reduction in recidivism. The paper concludes with policy suggestions.
