A Theory of African American Offending: Further Developments

Thu, Nov 16, 3:30 to 4:50pm, Marriott, Franklin 11, 4th Floor

Abstract

In 2011, Unnever and Gabbidon published their theory of African American offending. Their theory assumed that African American offending can only be understood in the context of their historical and persistent racial oppression. Numerous studies have tested some of the core hypothesis of Unnever and Gabbidon’s theory of African American offending. This paper reviews the research that has tested the theory and it presents new developments of Unnever and Gabbidon’s theory of African American offending.
