The Impact of Perceptions and Knowledge on Involvement in the Anti-Trafficking Movement

Abstract

Human trafficking is a crime estimated to impact 45.8 million people across the world. Social movements play an important role in the human trafficking field to raise public awareness of the issue and advocate for changes in law and policy. Using a convenience sample based in Israel (n=803), this study examines how public opinion and knowledge affects involvement in the anti-trafficking movement. This study also examines the impact of concern for victims and the types of information sources used to learn about trafficking, as well as the mediating effect of efficacy, on how individuals respond to the crime.
