One-person Households and Fear of Crime

Abstract

Recently, there is a notable change in the household structure; shift to smaller households and an rapid increase in the number of one-person household. However, alternative and consideration for this matter is short. In particular, one-person households` victimization risk and fear of crime is rarely considered. So, In this study, one-person household resident`s fear of crime and a part of weakness for crime are investigated. Among single person households, age and their socioeconomic status might significantly differentiate their lifestyle, victimization risk as well as fear of crime. Factors related to the fear of crime among single-households are analyzed to examine the similarities and differences between types of single person households according to the resident's age, gender, and so on.
