Traffic Stops: Analyzing Police Vehicle Searches and Use of Canine Units under the Fourth Amendment

Abstract

This survey study seeks to analyze the perceptions, knowledge and experiences of police officers regarding Fourth Amendment search and seizure rules and applications in the context of traffic stops and vehicles searches, including police use of canine units. Particular emphasis is given to the duration and scope of a traffic stop by police.
