Bringing Together Forensic Science And Criminology

Abstract

Researchers studying crime and offenders are increasingly adopting mixed methods to better undertand their subjects. These mixed methods can refer to quantitative or qualitative methodologies but also to the use of forensic science and criminology in the same studies. This poster will present a new Routledge Handbook that will showcase the need for more studies that integrate both forensic science and criminology. The Handbook contains 22 chapters from forensic scientists and criminologists working in North America, Europe and Australia. It is divided into three sections: 1) Criminology and Forensic Science: Historical Developments and Epistemological Perspectives; 2) Forensic Practices and Crime Regulation and; 3) Forensic Science and Crime Analysis. The Handbook is the result of a collaboration between editors at the School of Criminal Sciences of the Université de Lausanne and editors at the School of Criminology of the Université de Montréal.
