This research explores the general knowledge and views of the death penalty amongst college students throughout the tristate area. Data were obtained from five colleges and universities using face-to-face interviews and online questionnaires. The first set of questions were a control to determine general knowledge of the death penalty. Respondents were asked whether or not they knew about the death penalty and laws regarding it, and those who answered yes were tested on general information about death penalty laws. Next, students were asked for their opinions of the death penalty using a Likert scale numbered from 1 to 5 (with one being I strongly disagree to five being I strongly agree).
