Thu, Nov 16, 6:00 to 7:00pm, Marriott, Grand Ballroom Salon E, 5th Floor

Abstract

This poster considers the issue of sexual assault and the development of suicidal ideation, depression, and anxiety. Research has shown that individuals who have been sexually assaulted are more likely to attempt suicide and experience mental health issues. Individuals who have been sexually assaulted are also more likely to develop anxiety, such as posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). A survey was administered to 144 college students assessing measures of sexual assault, suicidal ideation, depression, and anxiety. Results found significant findings between sexual assault, suicidal ideation, and depression.
