Sex Offenders, Schools, and Public Services in Pennsylvania

Thu, Nov 16, 7:15 to 8:15pm, Marriott, Grand Ballroom Salon E, 5th Floor

Abstract

The research uses a quasi-Poisson regression to analyze the proximity of sex offender residencies in Pennsylvania to schools, libraries, and fire houses while controlling for the county. The analysis was done for buffers around each building of 1000, 1500, and 2000 feet. The results indicate that offenders were not more likely to live closer to schools compared to other services, despite higher numbers of schools in the state.
