An Interaction Effect Between Single-Parent Households and Residential Mobility Predicting Property Crime

Abstract

This poster attempts to evaluate the interaction effect between single-parent households and residential mobility and its ability to predict property crime. In order to do so, a HLM linear regression analysis was conducted using Unified Crime Report at the U.S. county level from 2010-2012 and county level census data. While controlling for racial heterogeneity, the analysis showed the interaction effect between single-parent households and residential mobility was a significant predictor of property crime at the county level. The coefficients table and a graph of the interaction are presented to show the reader the interaction and its significance. A conclusion and future policy suggestions based on the results are also included.
