Social Societal Reintegration for Minority Ex-Offenders: A Justice Policy Analysis

Abstract

Historically, minority offenders both males and females have experienced being incarcerated at greater percentages than their white counterparts. Upon exiting prison and reintegrating back into the community, minority ex-offenders face difficulties securing stable employment as well as housing. This becomes problematic because societal organizations tend to place negative labels on minority ex-offenders. In such, the purpose of this study is to evaluate historically justice policies which have impacted minority ex-offenders and provide a critical critique on how such policies can become more effective on assisting minority ex-offenders to positively reintegrate back into society.
